The University of California Santa Barbara is offering the opportunity for participants to receive 3 units of professional-level credit for this symposium (course). The approved course number is ED X 370.1 and the credit fee is $90. The registration fee for these participants will be reduced to $110.

This symposium aims to develop an inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary platform of discussion and understanding surrounding the issue of what constitutes ‘authentic learning.’ Papers are welcomed from any area, profession or vocation in which learning in any form is a critical aspect of the environment or professional experience. This will be a collaborative forum in which each participant will present a brief paper on an area of interest or expertise. Possible themes of papers and workshops could include, but are not limited to:
  • concepts, processes and philosophy of authentic learning
  • maintenance of optimal environments that lead to authentic learning
  • differences and similarities between children’s learning and adult’s learning
  • evaluation of learning
  • interpretation of learning
  • history of learning
